In Boston, King (D) receives 90,110 votes and Francis Hatch (R) receives 60,941. turnout is 160,384 or 64.2%. King, the former executive director of the Massachusetts Port Authority, had defeated incumbent Michael Dukakis in the Democratic primary election on September 19, 1978.
